Photos with brilliant colors and imagery are simple data files while stored on a PC. When you burn those photographic data files onto a CD, it is basically the same as burning music or spreadsheet files to the disc. In Windows, you can follow a two-step process to copy photos from one CD to another.

Copy Photos From CD

Insert the photo CD into the computer's drive. Wait while Windows reads the photo files on the CD. Close any "AutoPlay" boxes that may appear on the screen.

Click "Start." Type "Windows Explorer" in the search box at the bottom of the menu. Press "Enter" to open a window.

Right-click on the "Pictures" icon in the left pane under the "Libraries" section. Select "New" and then "Folder." Type in a name to identify the folder, such as "My Photo CD." Press "Enter."

Find the "Computer" icon in the left pane. Click on the drive letter (D:, E: or F:) that matches the CD (or DVD) drive in your computer. Wait for the photo files on the CD to show in the right pane.

Click the "Organize" button in the top left corner of Windows Explorer. Choose "Select All."

Click on the new folder that you created under the "Pictures" library ("My Photos CD") in the left pane. Move your cursor to a blank area in the right pane. Press the "Ctrl" and "P" keys on the keyboard to paste your photos in this folder.

Leave Windows Explorer open. Remove your photo CD from the drive.

Burn Photos to CD

Insert a blank CD into the drive. Wait while Windows reads the disc. Close any "AutoPlay" boxes, if prompted.

Click on the drive letter under "Computer" in the left pane that matches the CD drive. Wait for the "Burn A Disc" dialog box to show on the screen.

Type in a name for the photo CD in the "Disc Title" box. Fill in the radio button next to "With a CD/DVD Player." Click "Next."

Select the new "My Photos CD" folder under the "Pictures" library. Click the "Organize" button. Choose "Select All," which highlights and copies all of the photos in the right pane.

Click back on the CD drive and the right pane will show a blank area. Press the "Ctrl" and "P" keys to paste the copied photos to that area.

Click "Burn To Disc" at the top of Windows Explorer. Follow the instructions that appear in the wizard on the screen to complete the copying (burning) of your photos to another CD.
